Nikki McCaig joins the Trust as our new digital intern for the next two months.

University of Nottingham student, Nikki, will be supporting the Nottingham Castle Trust to boost our online presence as we work on our exciting new redevelopment project.

Over the next two months Nikki McCaig will be working with the us as our brand new summer intern!  She has joined our project as we continue our exciting new venture into the expansion and development of one of Nottingham’s most beautiful sites of heritage.

In 2014, Nottingham Castle launched its £25 million project to improve and evolve the site. And as this project progresses, it’s important to us that the public are as informed as possible on the changes being made behind the scenes, as well as within the castle walls themselves.

As a personal blogger and social media marketer, Nikki’s role will be to help us in the continuing development of our website, to maintain our digital online presence, and to hopefully help this project get the media attention it deserves.  And having spent the last two years embedding herself into Nottinghamshire life, she has also developed a personal connection to the project, and firmly believes it has the potential to become a truly irreplaceable attraction within the city.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA To help her do this, another key part of her internship will include learning from, and training with, the wonderful team at Hallam Internet LTD. This means that any skills and experience she picks up from them will be poured right back into the Castle Project. She is even planning to create a user-friendly digital guide and promotional schedule for our site to follow once her time with us has finished, helping the Trust to continue the hard work already set in place at the Castle.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWith experience in photography and digital editing, Nikki will also be involved in creating an entirely new database of images to represent the Castle, from its medieval stone walls to its exhibits and the events taking place within them. This also means she’ll be spending a lot of time roaming the Castle grounds with a camera in hand, so if you’re a regular visitor to the site and spot her bobbing about, feel free to come and say hello or to ask her for more information on the exciting new changes taking place there.

The Nottingham Castle Trust has so much planned for the coming years ahead, and we are very pleased to have her on board!
