One of the ways that you can help to secure the future of the Castle and ensure that it is enjoyable and inspiring for future generations is by supporting the Castle with a gift in your Will.
Anyone can include a gift in their Will, however large or small, all legacies are gratefully received and will be put to good use.
We invest legacy donations in the Castle’s Collection Fund, an endowment fund which serves to support the acquisition and conservation of works of art and significant objects for the Castle’s Collection.
Legacies can also be directed to a specific area of work that best reflects your personal interests including learning and education, conservation, the Archive and Library and building development.
There are four ways that you can support the Museum through a gift in your Will. Alternatively you can give a gift in memory of someone special.
A residual legacy
This is a donation of the remainder or a percentage of your estate after all debts, taxes, expenses and other bequests have been made.
This is simply a fixed sum donation decided by you.
You may like to leave the Castle a personal possession or asset including works of art, property and stocks and shares. If you are considering leaving a specific work of art to the Castle, please discuss your plans with us before you commit them to your Will, this will help us to plan for the growth of the Collection.
This is a valuable way of providing for your loved ones first. It involves leaving assets to a specified beneficiary to enjoy during their lifetime, with the whole or a portion reverting to the Castle, on their death.
A gift in your Will to the Gallery can prove extremely tax-efficient. The Museum has full charitable status; gifts made in this special way are not subject to inheritance tax.
Donate in memory
A gift to Nottingham Castle Museum can be a wonderful way to honour and remember a dear friend or relative. It can help the memory of your loved one live on whilst supporting a cause that they cared about.
